I went to get some boxes and I came back three months laterÂ
Hello
My apologies to you, dear reader. I did this weird growing up thing and got a mortgage and moved house. I think it threw me off balance. I made all kind of excuses for not appearing in your Inbox (I’ll do that on occasion). But I’m back now.
How are you?
As we hurtle towards the end of year, my desire to reflect (and get to the finish line) is heightened. So I am allowing that to inform this email in equal measure.
Ready? Grab my hand and let’s go wandering, shall we?
Things that have tickled my brain
Let’s stop talking ourselves so seriously on social media. Too funny to tweet? I think not.

I’m biased but I’ve always believed writing helps you build better products. Turns out, someone agrees with me.
"Consent is a function of power. You have to have a modicum of power to give it." My heart is breaking for the #metoo campaign and what it means for the film industry. Thank you Brit Marling for capturing that hurt so succinctly.
Things that have got me creating and writing
I’m sitting here listening to the 20th anniversary edition of OK Computer by Radiohead and I simply cannot believe it’s been 20 years. Or that the B Sides ended up being the bittersweet B Sides they are. Have I really loved and learned from them for so long?
I killed a darling project and I’m surprisingly OK with it.

A (not so) small note..
I know we're not at the end of the year yet but I have been reflecting on 2017 a lot. I guess dismantling your life, signing up for big debt, packing your life in boxes and getting rid of the excess will do that to a person.
This has been a big year for me. I passed my Lifeline accreditation, started my journey in end of life care, made the Freelance Jungle something in it's own right and have met some entirely wonderful clients along the way.
You are and always have been more than an open email, a click on a link, a follow on some social media or a faceless person. You are not a sales funnel or an opportunity or a class list. You are people that care enough about what I write to open, read, click and email me back. You give me confidence by interacting with my writing and asking me to spend time with you in intimate spaces in your online life.
I cannot thank you enough for reading to the bottom of this email and believing in me.
With sincere gratitude,
Rebekah
