A dusty old email list needs more happiness, right?Â
Hello
I know there’s been some dust on this email list for quite some time. I’m hoping to rectify that. You signed up at some point to hear from Hacking Happiness through the website or an event. Now I am going to honour that sharing of your email address.
The aim of this newsletter is to:
Discuss stress as a productivity cost
Bust myths surrounding self employment and write collar professions
Tackle tricky subjects such as stress, mental health, end of life and suicide
Work towards a more compassionate approach to life and ourselves
As it has been a while since I sent out an email, feel free to refresh yourself with the main Hacking Happiness website.
Things that have tickled my brain
I’m interested in working smarter, not harder. We don’t need to helplessness that comparison in business brings. I’m so glad the starving artist myth is getting a stick poking. Ponder a well placed ‘no’ and see why brutal creative truths are good for the soul. Resilience is great for us all- and something you can build up. Ruby Wax implores us to start asking the big questions. We all need a little self compassion sometimes, as this School of Life animation shows.
Things that have got me creating and writing
I think we’ve all been reeling since the death of Chris Cornell. Isn’t it time we had an honest conversation about suicide? I’m sick of do what you love and the damage it does. Find out why flexible workplace strategies are great for small business via Seek Insights. Hot Copy Podcast had me talking about self care in freelancing. I unpack the problems the scarcity myth attracts in business. I love the art of finishing, don’t you?
A list of places you can stalk me
For all the sole entrepreneurs out there, you can join the closed Facebook group for the Freelance Jungle. The first ever IndiePro Summit is fast approaching- tune in to see me on June 7th. I’m joining up with Freelance Australia and Creative Plus Business to present a panel on why the future of work is freelance as part of Vivid Ideas.
Events you’re going to love

Discuss the future of work as a freelancer in Sydney (and stay for drinks after).
