Is it just me or is it freelance busy season?Â
Hello
I’ve been driving myself suitably nutty recently. Beyond eating the elephant sized ideas, I’ve been attempting to provide 67 course banquets for the entire elephant village. I’m busy with work, pushing forward with both Freelance Jungle and Hacking Happiness. I’ve also added a Vivid Ideas event on the ‘future of work is freelance’ plus am training in crisis support and end of life care at the same time.
Oh, and I finally published the results of the Freelancing in Australia survey. Go check it out!
I’m also working with Cameron from Freelance Australia on some very cool things so watch this space!
What can I say? I am addicted to new ideas.
As we hurtle towards EOFY, I hope you are managing all things with grace and poise. If you need some pain relief, sashay on over to my pain clinic. Otherwise, maybe there’s some tonic in this email for you.
Things that have tickled my brain
Facebook is definitely making some big changes that will influence us all. With all this work, I’m interested in working smarter, not harder. We don’t need to helplessness that comparison in business brings. We’ve got to stop being suckered by outrage and the Milo playbook or giving infamy to people like Roger Stone.
An itty bitty bit of Austin Kleon rightly says don’t ask how it’s done. It doesn’t have to be perfect to tell a story, as the sketches of Liana Fink show. Kylie Saunder proves you don’t have to be a robot to survive in business.
Things that have got me creating and writing
I look at what it takes to make a Facebook group a success. ABC producer Jennifer Macey joins me via a podcast to talk about what makes a great audio experience. Still in audio form, Cristina Romeo from Vixen business gets you ready for EOFY.
I want us to talk seriously about freelancing in Australia. In the light of Chris Cornell’s death I wonder why we can’t have an honest conversation about suicide?
A list of places you can stalk me
For all the sole entrepreneurs out there, you can join the closed Facebook group for the Freelance Jungle. The first ever IndiePro Summit is fast approaching- tune in to see me on June 7th. I’m joining up with Freelance Australia and Creative Plus Business to present a panel on why the future of work is freelance as part of Vivid Ideas.
You can list yourself as an Australian freelancer on the Freelance Jungle website. You can also pitch yourself as a guest blogger for the Freelance Jungle too.
